1. Introduction to Malta

Malta is a small island country. It is located between Europe and Africa, just south of the Italian island of Sicily. 

Situated in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is a part of the archipelago of 7 islands. 

Out of these 7 small islands only 3 are inhabited which are Gozo, Camino, and Malta. 

People from all over the world flock to Malta due to its sunny beaches, mild climate, and diversity. Malta is also famously known as the "Sun and Sea Destination". 

The capital city of Malta is Valletta. The national language is Malti and Christianity is the top religion in Malta. 

Although Malta is densely populated, Pakistan is 3 hours ahead of Malta. 

Malta is part of the European Union so it is also a part of the Schengen countries. 

Being a small sovereign island, Malta enjoys the role of being the center of tourism, trading post, container, and cargo transshipment. 

This strengthens Malta's economy and renders its financial stability. 

Malta is also well-known for its culturally rich history, as it was once the home of Greeks, Arabs, Romans, and the Knights of Malta.

4. Student Visa of Malta for Pakistani Students

The Malta student visa processing fee is around 66 to 60 Euros. It takes about 7 to 15 days to process your visa application. 

Once you receive your Offer/Acceptance Letter from the Maltese University, you should apply for the study visa of Malta at least more than 15 days before your planned trip. 

Pakistan does not have any official Maltese consulate as it is part of the 3rd nation category of Schengen. 

Therefore, you should apply through the Italian consulate for the approval of the study visa of Malta. 

Pakistan's students have to apply for the type C-Visa which is generally valid for 90 days. 

Afterward, you have to apply for the visa extension. This lasts for 365 days or for the duration of the degree program (3-4 years) you are enrolled in.

You can apply for a Temporary Residence Permit for your extended stay in Malta.

After the completion of your degree, you can apply for permanent residency and citizenship. This way you can increase the prospects of your professional career. 

You need to at least apply for the Residence permit at least 8 weeks before your visa expires. 

5. Documents Required for the Student Visa of Malta by Pakistani Students 

  • Valid travel documents (passport and a return airline ticket)
  • Acceptance/Offer Letter by the Maltese University 
  • Duly filled visa processing application form
  • Proof of scholarship and identification of relationships between the sponsor and the student if scholarship (if applicable)
  • Bank statement proof confirming that you can cover up your entire trip's expenses
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the educational institute 
  • Attested CNIC card copies
  • Proof of written consent from parents if you are below the age of 18 years
  • Proof of fee receipt 
  • Police certificate copy 
  • English language proficiency certificate
  • Proof of accommodation and its paid rent
  • Proof of health insurance coverage of approximately 30,000 Euros
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Attested copies of your transcripts 
  • Marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • Employment certificate (if applicable)

6. Expenses of Study Abroad in Malta for Pakistani Students

As Malta is a small nation, therefore the cost of tuition and living expenses are relatively less Malta. 

Before departure to Malta, the one-way airline ticket of the economy class costs around 60,000 PKR nowadays. 

The estimated cost of living in Malta is approximately around 400 to 600 Euros. This covers your rent, travel expenses, food costs, entertainment (cinema, trips, etc) expenses, and utility bills.
