The Board is committed to provide quality Technical Education in the Province by imparting training in various disciplines through its affiliated Institutions.
The Sindh Board of Technical Education came into existence through an Ordinance promulgated by the Governor of Sindh on 27th March, 1970. The primary objective was to standardize and streamline the syllabi and examination procedures for Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) and to enhance the quality of technical education imparted at the Diploma level in the province.
The Board has been assigned Executive and Judicial powers through its statutes to regulate, control, develop and shape technical and vocational education within the province of Sindh as per International standards.
In pursuance of the above purpose, the board holds examinations, awards diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions and grants affiliations to such technical institutions as may be approved by it in accordance with the rules and regulations made under the Ordinance.
The Board was constituted vide notification dated 11th May 1971 and its first meeting was held on 15th June 1971. Its first office was established at Hyderabad under the supervision of Deputy Director (Technical) Sindh. The Board took over all educational institutions which remained affiliated with the “Board of Secondary Education Karachi” till then.
The office was shifted to its present building at Polytechnic Road near Askari Park, Karachi in mid 1972.
