Essay on Water

Water is essential to any living organism, making up over 70% of the Earth's surface. Water is also one of the planet's most plentiful resources, providing for all life forms across the globe. When life on planet Earth started about three million years ago, water was primordial in ensuring the perpetuation of life. Water has also been present when humans have evolved from primitive life forms to modern human society.

Water is indeed the reason for life on planet earth. It is the only substance on Earth whose molecules are bound together by electromagnetic force rather than by covalent bonds (the four types of intermolecular bonds that exist in chemistry). It means that there is no chemical bond between water molecules, and the forces that hold them together are temporary. 'This property of water makes it a universal solvent, which means that it can dissolve just about any other substance.

While water itself may have few commercial applications, it's not the same for the numerous products made from it. Hydroelectric power accounts for one-third of U.S. electricity needs. Health care facilities use water purification systems to ensure that tap water and healthy water are free of harmful bacteria and viruses.

Water is an invaluable asset given to us by nature, and it is an essential factor in everyday life, both domestic and industrial. Water can be used to produce electricity, create power for our homes, generate steam for our factories, and more. Making most of the valuable water resources is essential for us to live, and water is an indispensable part of our healthy living.

If we talk about water consumption on a large scale, the amount of water consumed while manufacturing goods vary. The gasoline used in most automobiles comes from petroleum refineries, which employ nearly six million gallons of water daily. The factories require large quantities of water for both production and cooling purposes. Despite the many positive aspects of these industries, they do negatively affect the surrounding environment.

Due to the need for water for agriculture, travel, and industries. A decline in Pakistan's water supply is expected by 2050 if immediate action is not taken. Pakistan is the largest user of water resources globally because it has the highest population density, and the primary use of water is above-ground irrigation of crops. The population of India will increase by 1.6 billion people, which will result in a highly severe water shortage. It is also expected by 2050. If this keeps up, up to two-thirds of the world's population will face water shortage by 2025.

Additionally, If we move beyond our human perspective, we can see how water plays a vital role in the life of everything on Earth. It is the home of aquatic life. From minuscule insects to enormous whales, every living thing needs water to survive. Thus, we see how not only humans but plants and animals too require water. The Earth relies on water to function, and water is vital for all biological life. While humans depend on water for drinking, plant life depends on it for survival. Water connects all life.
