7-Tips on How to Write an Essay Fast

SHARE:

Writing an essay is a difficult task. You must know how to write an essay fast to achieve excellent grades in school or college. Sometimes you have to write an essay in just a few hours, but you can't find the time for research or planning.

Essay writing can be challenging, especially if you're unsure how to start. Follow these seven tips to help you write an essay fast and efficiently.

Writing essays can be a very frustrating and time-consuming process. Most students tend to procrastinate. That's why they often rush to complete the essay before the deadline.

Fortunately, there is a better way to write an essay, and it has something to do with following a set of simple steps that can help you improve your essay writing skills and impress your professor. So if you need help when it comes to writing an essay, here are seven effective tips.

How to Write an Essay Fast

In this article, I will discuss seven ways to write an essay quickly and effectively.

Step 1: Choose an Interesting Topic

When it comes to writing an essay, choosing the right topic is very important. Your professor will spend a lot of time reading through your work and critiquing it, so make sure you choose one that you are interested in and can write about well.

And as much as we'd like to think otherwise, not all topics are created equal. Some topics are more interesting than others, some have less research material available, some give you more freedom when it comes to formulating your thesis statement, and others still require specific document formatting requirements (like MLA or APA).

So if possible, try to pick a topic with a decent amount of research material available online or at the library. You'll find less searching around for information when writing your paper if your chosen topic already has plenty of resources available on Google Scholar or Wikipedia.

Interesting Topic

Step 2: Understand the Topic

If you want to write a good essay quickly, you have to understand the topic. It's as simple as that. If you don't understand it, how can you write about it?

This may seem trivial, but it is important, especially if your deadline is fast approaching and there are still so many tasks left undone. No one wants to waste time writing something that doesn't make sense or, worse still, does not meet its intended purpose.

So what does understanding mean in this context? In short: knowing what needs to be said about the topic and explaining why this information is important for readers (and examiners).

Understand the topic

Step 3: Do Extensive Research

A good essay requires extensive research. How can you expect your readers to understand and appreciate what you have written without knowing what you are talking about?

It is not enough to read some books or articles on the topic. You need to go deeper than that. Study different points of view and different perspectives on one issue. Find out what others think about it and compare this with your understanding.

The best way to conduct research is by going through primary sources (books or articles written by experts in the field) rather than secondary sources (articles based on previous studies). Secondary sources are less reliable and often incomplete because they lack original data from primary sources.

Extensive Research

Step 4: Prepare an Outline

If you're new to the whole essay writing business, then this probably sounds like an overwhelming task. But it doesn't have to be. Outlining your essay is a great way to organize your thoughts and make sure that all of your points fit into the right place.

It also helps structure your essay so that each paragraph leads naturally into the next one (in just two sentences).

This way, when you sit down at the keyboard and start typing away, everything will flow easier because you already know where you want every sentence to go and how it needs to be structured to fit perfectly into its paragraph.

Prepare Outline

Step 5: Follow a Standard Structure

An essay has three main sections: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. The introduction should identify the topic of your essay, as well as its purpose and scope. All of the main points you want to make about the topic or question should be covered in the essay's body.

Finally, an effective conclusion will summarize what has been said in both parts and draw conclusions based on these ideas.

This standard structure allows readers (and teachers) to easily follow your argument while ensuring they do not miss anything important.

It is best to stick to a standard structure for your discipline and save the originality of your arguments rather than getting caught up in the structure.

Standard Structure

Step 6: Write the Conclusion and Introduction Last

It's a good idea to write your introduction and conclusion last because this allows you to revise the body of your essay. You can rework sections that aren't working well or add more information on points that need it. It also helps you proofread your essay more carefully because it will be fresh in your mind when you read over what you have written so far.

In general, writing the conclusion first causes problems with consistency throughout an essay. If one section is stronger than another (or weaker), the reader may not notice it until they reach the end of their reading experience.

If you are working on an essay where instructors assign topics, ensure that they know exactly how much each topic should take up with all others combined before beginning work on any part of your paper, such as its introduction or conclusion. This way, no one gets frustrated with having too much work left undone at the end.

Write Conclusion and Introduction last

Step 7: Don't Forget about Revision

When you're writing the draft, you need privacy and focus. However, when you're editing, having someone else look over your work can expedite the process. Why? Because you're inherently blind to mistakes in your writing.

As you have been looking at the draft for so long, you will not notice mistakes as you would if you were seeing it for the first time.

You cannot be too careful when revising your work. When you are revising, always ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do I want to say?
  • Is it clear to the reader what I am trying to say?
  • How can I make it clearer?
  •  What is missing from the piece to help me clarify my argument and strengthen my points?
  • What is unnecessary?
  • How can I cut the fat and make this piece leaner, meaner, and more effective?

Conclusion

Even though writing an essay requires a great deal of time and effort, following the steps in this article will enable you to accomplish it more quickly without compromising quality.

It's important to remember that writing an essay should be fun and exciting. Make sure you don't get hung up on details, and don't beat yourself up if you make mistakes along the way. Just keep going.

Following these seven tips, you will learn how to write an essay fast. Plan your essay before you start writing it. Your essay will be logically structured and organized as a result. Start with the main body of your essay and work your way through to the introduction and conclusion.
