The Sindh Board of School Education is the governing body that controls and supervises public schools in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. The board has the power to make and enforce rules and regulations regarding anything related to education. It is also in charge of appointing teachers and principals, promoting them, or transferring them from one school to another.
It is responsible for holding examinations at different levels, awarding certificates and verifying their authenticity, as well as promoting research about education. The board runs a number of schools throughout the province.
The board was established in 1956 following the dissolution of West-Pakistan Board of Education by an act of parliament on November 23, 1955. Under the law establishing it, the Sindh Board was given complete authority over all matters pertaining to education in Sindh including appointment of teachers and principals by a majority vote.
It had its headquarters at Karachi with branches in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Nawabshah and Shikarpur. In 1997 it was restructured and renamed as Sindh Board of School Education (SBSE) by merging all its offices together under one umbrella organization based in Karachi.
The need of education in the country is greater than ever. The government is working hard on this but the condition of the public schools are not good enough.
